Living Life in Talega
Talega, a newer area in the beachfront city of San Clemente, California, is home to about 9,000 residents who live in about 3,500 residential properties within the 3,510 acres of rolling hills east of the Pacific Ocean. Easily accessible from Interstate 5, Talega offers a classic, beach town lifestyle perfect for family living. Talega residents receive much more than a beautiful home in a master-planned community – they become part of a philosophy that values family, community and open spaces.
Talega is comprised of 31 neighborhoods, which are mostly single-family homes, condominiums and some apartments, although no full-custom homes. Of these neighborhoods, six are gated communities and several are designed for residents 55 years of age and older. The community is designed around Spanish-Tuscan architecture, notable in nearly every home, public space and building. Some of the homes offer views of the ocean, the golf course, mountains and Talega parks.
Family Activities
The construction of Talega construction began in 1999 and revolves around the active lifestyles of its residents. The community includes several city-maintained parks (Talega Park, Liberty Park and Tierra Grande Park) as well as several home association-maintained parks (Altea Park, Pacifica Summit Park, Portofino Park, Sansol/Mirador Park and Lucia Park).
Active families enjoy riding their bikes, exploring Talega´s 19 miles of trails and climbing the 760-foot Nob Hill. Just down the hill is the seven-acre Talega Swim and Athletic Club which boasts a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse, resort-style pool, junior Olympic pool, water play fountains, a transitional tennis sport court, roller sports, basketball, sand volleyball and picnic areas.
Several Capistrano Unified School District schools service the Talega area, including Vista Del Mar School (a K-8 school limited to Talega residents) and the San Clemente High School.
Golfing Talega
The Fred Couples signature-designed Talega Golf Club, inclusive of a pro shop and restaurant, is an 18-hole public golf course considered to be among the best in Orange County. Established in 2001, the 72-par golf course, ranked in America’s Top Golf Courses by Golf Digest, ESPN and Zagat, also features a driving range and Spanish colonial Clubhouse architecture with a bell tower and village courtyard setting.
The club’s event facility accommodates more than 200 guests for wedding, banquet and golf tournaments. The Signature Grille overlooks the lush landscape of the golf course while guests enjoy a refreshing drink or hearty meal.
